NAMI Delaware and Morrow Counties offers free classes to educate about mental illness. We offer classes for people with mental health symptoms and for family and friends who have a loved one with a mental health condition. We hope that these courses will be informative and helpful for you and your family. Please see below for course dates and descriptions.
For parents and caregivers with a child under 18 who is showing symptoms of mental illness
Are you the parent or caregiver of a child or young adult (age 18 or younger) who is showing symptoms of a mental health condition? This free six-week course helps parents and caregivers understand the biological basis of mental illness, provides an overview of treatment options, tips for dealing with challenging behavior as well as resources to help parents advocate for their children within the mental health and school systems. We’ll also discuss the need for self-care, coping and communication skills. Registration is required.

NAMI Family to Family
For family members and loved ones of people with mental health symptoms
NAMI Family-to-Family is a free 12-week course for family members and caregivers of people who have serious mental illness. Course topics include different mental illnesses and their symptoms, communication skills and problem solving. Registration is required.
Our next Family-to-Family course will begin on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:30 pm.
NAMI Peer-to-Peer Education Program
For people living with mental health symptoms
This 10-session course is for adults living with mental health challenges. NAMI Peer-to-Peer focuses on recovery and offers respect, understanding, encouragement, and hope. The course is taught by trained peer mentors who have firsthand experience with mental illness and who are living in recovery themselves. Registration is required.
Our next Peer-to-Peer class will start on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, from 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm.
NAMI Ending the Silence
NAMI Ending the Silence is an interactive 50-minute presentation that helps teens learn the warning signs of mental illness. This presentation also gives teenagers information about the steps they should take to find support for themselves or their friends. NAMI offers this presentation free of cost to schools, youth organizations, and communities. Contact us if you would like to schedule an Ending the Silence presentation for your group.
