Educational Classes

NAMI Delaware and Morrow Counties offers free classes to the community to educate about mental illness. We hope that these classes will reduce stigma as we educate people about mental illness.

NAMI has classes available for individuals living with mental illness as well as their family and friends, so they can learn ways to better support their loved one in dealing with mental illness.

 

NAMI Family to Family Education Program

For family members and loved ones of people with mental illness

NAMI Family-to-Family is a free 12-week course for family members and caregivers of people who have serious mental illness.  Advance registration is required.

  • The next Family-to-Family course will be offered beginning March 6, 2019.

NAMI Basics Education Program

For parents and caregivers with a child under 13 who is showing symptoms of mental illness

Are you the parent or caregiver of a child age 13 or younger who has anxiety, depression, mood disorders, OCD, ADHD, ODD, PTSD or another brain disorder?  This free six-week course helps parents and caregivers advocate for their children within the school and healthcare settings while promoting the need for self-care, coping and communication skills. Advanced registration is required.

  • The next Basics class will be offered in early 2019.

NAMI Peer-to-Peer Education Program

This 10-session course for adults living with mental health challenges.  NAMI Peer-to-Peer focuses on recovery and offers respect, understanding, encouragement, and hope.  The course is taught by trained peer mentors with mental illness who are living in recovery themselvesAdvance registration is required.

NAMI Ending the Silence

NAMI Ending the Silence is an interactive 50-minute presentation that helps teens (13-18) learn the warning signs of mental illness. This presentation also provides teenagers with information about the steps they should take to find support for themselves or their friends.  NAMI offers this presentation free of cost to schools, youth organizations, and communities.
