My Right to FAPE & A System for Organizing Records
a presentation by the
If you’re raising a child with a disability (including a mental health condition), it can be overwhelming to advocate for your child at school.
You don’t have to go through this process alone. Join us on Wednesday, February 26 at 6:30 pm for My Child’s Right to FAPE. This presentation from the Ohio Coalition for the Education of Children with Disabilities includes a make-it-and-take-it workshop that will help you develop an organizational system to manage your child’s important records. You’ll receive a filing system filled with helpful information about how to advocate for your child, keep effective documentation, work with the school system, and more.
In addition, you’ll also learn about your rights under the Individual with Disabilities Education Act of 2004 (IDEA 2004). This federal law governs special education in the United States and requires that your child with a disability receive a free appropriate public education (FAPE). Learn to be the best advocate for your child at school, learn about your rights under IDEA 2004 and learn more about the services and resources provided by the Ohio Coalition for the Education of Children With Disabilities (OCECD).
